- LeEco’s Jia Yueting Blacklisted as Defaulter
-
Jia Yueting, founder of China’s troubled tech giant LeEco, has been added into the official database of debt defaulters, after a Beijing court ruled that he has failed to repay about 480 million yuan ($73 million) in debt owed to Ping An Securities.
Being listed into the defaulter database means a person will be banned from certain high spending, real estate buying and plane travel.
Jia stepped down from LeEco’s listed unit Leshi Internet Information & Technology Corp. in July amid worsening debt woes and said he would focus on LeEco’s smart-car development. He hasn’t made any public appearance in the Chinese mainland since March.
